    Hello,

    Am receiving this fatal error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: preg_match() in /var/home/db/url.ca/www/blog/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 154

Have done nothing to site in past 48 hours, just all of a sudden received this error. Can’t even access the admin panel as the error shows up on the admin link. Happened to both my sites I run. Not sure which version I have, as I can’t access the admin panel. Could this be a hosting problem or problem with WP?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Yes, this is probably a hosting problem. Seems like PHP was reinstalled or updated without the PCRE extensions. Better contact your host about this ??

Any advice on what exactly PCRE extensions are? So I don’t look like a fool to the hosting company when I ask them about it?

    Thanks.

PCRE stands for Perl Compatible Regular Expressions, and the extensions are what allow functions like preg_match() to work in PHP.
