adding an image into the feed

I’d like to manually add a thumbnail image onto each article in the feed page (or use another plugin to do it on the feed page)
OR pull in an image from the post and make it a thumbnail.
Unfortunately I am not a rocket scientist programmer. Do you have a step by step or sample sites that do this?
