Syntax to Pause the Slideshow

Hi I am looking at a developing a function and need the syntax to pause the slideshow. The idea is that it maintains the pause facility even after a user hase clicked the next – previous navigation using a timeout to load the slide and then pause the slide. I just need to know the command to pause the slide show to place into the function. Thanks
