Due to certain technical limitations the plugin only shows up in the normal site admin, not Network Admin. Go to any of your network sites and click the “Settings -> Menu Editor” menu to access it.

Since you installed it as a global plugin, any menu changes you make on one site will also affect the rest.

There is no Settings->Menu Editor in any of the admin menus on any site. This is a brand new Multi Site install, and I deactivated every other addon but Akismet, and still no Settings->Menu Editor will appear.

Okay, I figured out what I did wrong, but this installation method doesn’t seem to make sense to me anyway. Why would I want to use it as a global plugin if the Settings->Menu Editor is visible and usable by subsites in the network? The whole point (I thought) of installing it this way would be so that it would be invisible as well as unchangeable by anyone other than the Network Admin.

Will users other than the Network Admin be able to see the menu if I install it in the normal plugins directory and just Network Activate it?

The plugin will be inaccessible to anyone except the Super Admin in either case. You can install it in mu-plugins, or install it in the normal “plugins” directory and Network Activate it – the result will be essentially the same.

The main difference between those two options is that if you install it in “plugins”, sub-site administrators will be able to see the plugin in the “Plugins -> Installed Plugins” list if/when it is inactive.

    Okay thanks!

IM confused I have the same problem Raevenne! Where in the world is the Menu editor?! I installed as both network activated and as mu-plugins and neither way allowed me to find menu editor under settings. I checked on main site and on Network admin..where is the mysterious settings option?! thanks!

my fault i think i figured it out as well ..didn’t move one of the files to the specified folder..will try that now.
