• Hey guys,
I just installed it, and set it up on IIS server (hosted by Microsoft’s Azure websites hosting). Click run job gives me a message that job was started but there is no indication of any kind that it did start. After waiting, nothing shows up anywhere (no logs or backups). I know you used to have black commandline status screen when performing backup, but I do not see that here. Any help?

    Thanks,
    Viktor

    Hi viktorix,
where is your backup to be stored?
Do you have access to your server logfiles? Any hint there what’s happening?

    Here’s what’s in the debug.log file:

[02-May-2013 16:35:54 UTC] PHP Warning: Please use another folder: C:/.../site/wwwroot in C:\...\site\wwwroot\wp-content\plugins\backwpup\inc\class-job.php on line 904
[02-May-2013 16:35:55 UTC] PHP Warning: Please use another folder: C:/.../site/wwwroot in C:\...\site\wwwroot\wp-content\plugins\backwpup\inc\class-job.php on line 904
[02-May-2013 16:35:55 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Backups folder does not exist or is not writable for BackWPup in C:\...\site\wwwroot\wp-content\plugins\backwpup\inc\class-job.php on line 452

Azure sets permissions as read/write/execute for everything. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Have you set the backup destination folder with regular slashes? Try backslashes?

    Hey Caspar,
    Here’s an update.

Backing up to folder (db and files) works fine. My original Job was setup for Amazon S3. This is the job that’s generating those errors. I did not see a place where I can define temporary folder for backwpup? Am I missing it or does it use WP defined temp folder?

The temp and logs folder are listed in Settings > Information

I have a similar problem under Linux. All I get in the log is the [INFO] lines and then it does nothing more. It seems to be struggling to create the archive but I have tried all 3 archive settings for the job. Permissions maybe?

    Any update?

Yea I’m having this issue too. The log says nothing, and BWU claims its started the job but nothing happens…

Click run job gives me a message that job was started but there is no indication of any kind that it did start. After waiting, nothing shows up anywhere (no logs or backups).

Any update on this? I’m getting the same issue when backing up to dropbox. I have scheduled once per day, no backup performed in last 10 days. Launching manually gives me nothing.

Mine freezes halfway through the job. Is a fix coming, or do we need to switch to a different backup plugin?

My back up doesn’t work either anymore, same story, it says it started the job and then nothing. Tried the backslash suggestion but as you save it WP changes those back into forward slashes again.

    Any help appreciated.

I have exactly the same problem and tried different backup-possibilities. to folder, to FTp, to dropbox

but everytime I get a job started, the screen will refresh and reads “Job started” but nothing happens. There is no progress bar for the backup and no logs are written. Writing permissions for the folders are set right.

    Funny is:
I manage another WP site for a friend on another server and there BackWPup does funtcion properly.

Any suggestions to fix this problem?
    Thanks

    Same here!

    Since upgrade to V3.0.12

When I start the job I get ‘Job “DB Backup” started.’
There are no progress bars. The job refreshes with 0 secs.
The log file shows only [INFO] lines, the last being ‘[INFO] Backup file is: var/logfilepathname…’
File ‘backwpup-5f9d5a-working.php’ is left in ‘/public_html/wp-content/uploads/backwpup-35392’
    There are no backups anywhere.

However, an exact copy works on my WAMP localhost! The backup completes and uploads to Dropbox. Two nice progress bars appear and slide across as expected.

Some of the old forum comments are now confusing, tending to suggest all sorts of remedies, but nothing works other than reverting back to Backwpup V2.0.17.

Can’t waste anymore time on this. I need to move on!

I went ahead and switched to Updraft Plus. It works without a hitch and also has a restore feature that Backwpup never had.

    okay,

thanks for the tip Phoenix, I will look out for Updraft

I thought about buying BackWPup, but since the problem is still there after the newest update, I will look for sth different.
I won’t pay for sth that doesnt function properly, nor have I the time to spend hours and hours try testing a simple backup tool to get it run at least.
