Categories not coming into admin screen

I have posts and categories setup (not custom, just plain old normal ones) but when I go to the settings admin screen, there is not the option for me to select which categories I want to come through into the filter. I can see a rounded blue rectangle and a button New Filter (which has a dead link) and I can specify all posts, use featured image etc, but there is nothing in terms of categories being picked up.

I have the current jquery loaded correctly through functions.php, I checked and only one jquery is being called. I have verison 2.1 of your plugin running.

I have no idea what to check next to fix this. Any help much appeciated
