wp_config corrupted occasionally
-
I’ve had this happen twice now, most recently when changing user level for password security. As soon as I click to save the change, the page hangs and my site becomes immediately inaccessible (I reverted to a backup, and the site was immediately restored). Looking at my site, it was the WP_config file that was changed; on line 3 was added (in both cases):
define( 'BWPS_FILECHECK', true );
This appears to be the only change to the file, and it renders the backend of my site unusable and the frontend offline. For info, I am using Photocrati theme (Better WP Security was installed in an existing site), but not sure this is related.
I guess I’d like to know from the developer if this is a known bug (if so, if it’s going to be fixed), or if I should discontinue use of Better WP Security with my particular site. Last time this happened it was a different setting I was changing, so not sure if it’s a random occurrence or if it is only a few settings that causes it. At the moment I’m inclined to keep using Better WP Security and not change any settings, but it makes me nervous.
Anyone else seen similar behavior?
Thanks for any help or insight,
Jeff
