Display only a few thumbnails but show all images in the gallery in the lightbox

One of my clients use NGG to display about 45 images in the sidebar. She wants only a few thumbnails to be displayed but wants all 45 images to be included in the effect. It would look awful to have as many as 45 thumbnails on the sidebar so I specified on the widget to display only 9 and it looks just right, but only the 9 images show up in the lightbox. Is there a way to display the rest of the images in the same lightbox? Thanks.
