    Hi,

I was wondering if I could have two different widgets to subscribe to two different newsletters. To be a bit more descriptive: Let’s say I have a newsletter about Science and one about Astrology. People that sign up for the Science one do not want to be bothered with the other, and vice versa. Can I have two subscription widgets on one site that allow users to sign up for the separate newsletters? Preferably the subscribers’ email addresses would end up in the same database, but then with a different ‘List’ attached to their name.

Secondly, if the above is possible, what were to happen if a person is interested in both Science and Astrology (don’t see that that’s a possibility, but hey…just for argument’s sake)? Would they end up in the same database with 2 ‘Lists’ attached to their names? Or would they end up twice in the same database? I’m asking because I don’t want the same newsletter to end up in the subscriber’s inbox twice. I know WYSIJA works around this quite nicely, but maybe two widgets complicate things so that this failsafe is messed up.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Paul, to answer your questions:

    1. Yes, you can let users select their list.

Simply create a new form in your Wysija Settings, and drag the “list selection” widget onto your form.

    2. Wysija doesn’t send duplicate newsletters.

In other words, 1 user is in 2 lists. You send your newsletter to those 2 lists. Subscriber gets only 1 email.

    Cheers, Kim

    Hi Kim,

thanks for your answers! I was fiddling around a bit in the plugin settings page and got somewhere, but your confirmation is very much appreciated. When I save my subscription form, I get a message saying something like ‘Click here to get the widget’. When I click it, my site freezes and I can’t even get to my domain anymore. My domain host tells me that the server goes into ‘a loop’ and my IP gets kicked for a while. Is this a known issue and how do I solve it, or is this server related? It seems to me it has something to do with ‘widgets in general’, since if I click on Widgets under Appearance in the left sidebar menu, the same thing happens.

    Thanks for your help!

Oh and one more question following on the first two: If I set up a widget that adds subscribers in a seprate list, can I also set up two standard reply emails? One for each widget/list?

    Thanks again!

    1. Widgets. The problem is most probably with your host. Can you check with them?

    2. Separate emails: if you mean the activation email, no. But you can add different autoresponders: https://www.wysija.com/autoresponder-wordpress/
