I am using WP as a website, more than a blog. Everything is shapping up great, but I am wanting to disable right clicks in on the site and have a pop-up message regarding our sites copywrite when someone right clicks on the page.

The reason behind this is that the site is a authors site, and we are wanting to discourage copy and paste theft of images and text.

If there are any other good options (such as embeding PDF into the content area) please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Love the WP

  • Disabling right-click is….. pointless? It’s so very easily worked around. Somewhere like https://www.dynamicdrive.com will have that sort of thing. Just follow their directions to use.

I can’t tell you about embedding PDF …. (though if it meant adobe acrobat opening when I visit it will annoy visitors)

just my $.02 – disabling right-click will not protect your stuff from people who know how to “view source” and grab what they want directly… also, some browsers now (like FireFox) can disable javascript (which is what those no-right-click popups are written in) and they’ll still be able to right-click and take what they want.

as far as text goes, they can highlight what they want and use “ctrl+c” to copy it.

i hate to break it to you, but if someone really wants something, they’ll know how to get it. the best you can do is put a copyright notice at the bottom of the site (or even in each post/page) and maybe try subscribing to this: https://www.copyscape.com/
