How can I create a magazine-style list of old posts?

    My blog has a list of posts (see oomphify.com), and I want to add another section after it displaying older posts by category. I think that the layout at ExcelLiving.com is perfect. Do you know how I can achieve that kind of look? I’ve looked at countless plugins but I wasn’t able to find a way to present my older posts in a stylish magazine-ish way. Is there a specific plugin I could use, or do I need to come up with a shortcode?

    I forgot to mention that I want the older posts to be displayed on the main page, just like on ExcelLiving.com.
