• I have the free version of metaslider and really like this plugin. But after creating 3 different sliders and posting them in various pages, I noticed that it doesn’t work in IE. the website cannot load and it’s giving me an error message saying “Internet Explorer cannot display this web page.” It works fine in Chrome and Firefox. When the plugin is deactivated, my website will load with no problem. Currently it is deactivated.

  • Hi Alan, could you quickly enable it so I can take a look in IE? I’ll be online for the rest of the day now (UK time, so another 7 or 8 hours from now)

Hi Tom, the plugin has been enabled. Were you able to check it yet?

    Thanks,
    Alan

I’ll take a look in about 10 minutes, if you want to disable it in the mean time then feel free.

    Tom

    Hi Alan,

It works for me (eventually) in IE.

The page weight is 7.6mb with all of those slideshows on the homepage so I’d recommend slimming it down quite a lot (I’m not an expert but I guess you’d want it at most 1mb in size), you’ll probably find IE will work for you then.

    Regards,
    Tom.

Hi Tom, thanks for checking. I plan to be using the slider in many of my posts and this obviously will increase the page weight. What would you suggest if I intend to use the sliders for many of my posts on the home page while trying to keep the page weight at a minimum?

    Thanks,
    Alan

    Hi Alan,

You could reduce the number of images in each slideshow, I think 4 or 5 slides is about right. Generally I’d suggest not trying to use slideshows as galleries, so maybe each post could have a slideshow at the top (with 4 or 5 slides) then a gallery at the bottom.

You could also reduce the slideshow size, although this would only help with the page weight – the browser would still require quite a lot of computing power to render the page due to the number of slideshows.

Lastly, you could reduce the number of posts you display on your homepage.

    Regards,
    Tom.
