Changing default user url to exclude default address

Hello,

Whenever you edit a user and don’t include a url in their profile WordPress automatically adds “https://” which then appears when you try to display the users url in the footer as a profile.

I was wondering if anybody knew of a way to automatically cause WordPress to either remove that “https://” or possibly through javascript exclude showing the user-url when there is nothing except the https://.
