What’s your site URL? From your question above, you don’t have a child theme set up correctly – it’s NOT a copy of the entire theme.

Right. I added a style.css and header.php

You need to activate the child theme – it’s not currently activated on your site.

Activating it just screwed up every edit I made to the original. Maybe it’s time to quite for today.

Yes, you’ll have to redo those in the child theme ?? – it’s like switching to any other new theme – not everything carries over. It won’t take you so long to fix those – but taking a break is always good too.

And now it’s set up nicely – so now you’re off and running.
