Answering my own question here but after a bit of panicking I was able to change the address back in phpmyadmin. Phew!

Still, does anyone know how I can direct my site to the index.php page when typing my root url into a browser?

    1. The two URI values in Options should never end with a file name – only directory, no slash!
    2. This: https://www.vehicleinsurance.info/ takes me to your blog. So, what is the problem?

    When I go to:
    https://www.vehicleinsurance.info

It loads the index.php but doesn’t display this in the browser URL bar. Is this what you want? Do you need it to display index.php? I’m guessing you’ve either fixed this and haven’t yet marked the thread as resolved, or you really want index.php in the browser bar. If the latter is the case, then you are in for a world of pain to modify your server settings to reflect this.

That’s correct. I want to load the same page that currently displays at vehicleinsurance.info but with the index.php in the url. The reason for this is because adsense is not particularly relevant on the homepage, but is if i direct to index.php. I’ve also noticed this on another blog I have. If vehicleinsurance.info/index.php loaded then this would solve the problem but I didn’t realise how difficult it would be.

If index.php *isn’t* loading, then what is? Are you sure that adsense actually NEEDS it to be in the url bar? I use adsense at https://tombammann.org and the ads are different on every page, and you only ever see url folders not url files in the url bar.

What leads you to believethat if index.php displays in the url bar then adsense will function differently? Perhaps if you point me there I could help to pursuade you differently.

The index.php is loading but for some strange reason if I actually type index.php to the end of the homepage url (ultimately bringing up the same page) I then receive ads that are targeted to the content, whereas without the index.php typed to the end of the url I irrelevant ads, eg. blog or rss feed ads.

The best example of where this happens is on another blog I have at https://www.conference-callservices.net/ where the ads are blogs and rss feeds related. However at https://www.conference-callservices.net/index.php the ads are much more targeted to the content. This is the same with the ads on the left of the page at https://www.vehicleinsurance.info in comparison to https://www.vehicleinsurance.info/index.php.

I reckno it must be your adsense settings. Have you read the help for that? Perhaps you typed in the index.php when you should have when you setup adsense? (Just guessing)
