WordPress Auto Updater vs Managed Hosting

HI,

Not exactly a support question, but I am trying to get straight in my mind the differences between using managed hosting (say wp-engine or zippykid.com) vs. using this plugin and some backup software.

From my perspective, I am thinking the key differences are:

1. Managed hosting has support, so if it goes wrong, they’ll fix it for you
2. Hacks are their problem, rather than yours

But from a software point of view, it looks pretty similar. Are there any other considerations to, er, consider?
