Been using WP to Twitter for a while now with no issues, but trying to add author Twitter reference to the tweets doesn’t seem to be working – I have all of the author’s Twitter handles in the correct box in the WordPress users section, but no matter what code I use in WP to Twitter, it doesn’t work right.

I’ve tried #author#, #account#, and #@# with no success. #author# always shows the author display name, not the Twitter handle. #account# and #@# both show the overall blog Twitter username, not the individual user accounts.

Is this something I’m doing wrong or something with the plugin? Is there a way to fix this? Thanks so much!

Have you put the author’s Twitter account in the WordPress native field (under ‘Contact Info’), or in the WP to Twitter custom section? When this feature was added to WP to Twitter, WordPress didn’t have that available as a standard setting, and I haven’t incorporated it yet.

Duh. Totally didn’t see that extra setting under “Advanced” – assumed that it would use the built in WordPress twitter handle. Well, that seems to have solved that one then. Thanks so much.

It will, eventually…it was a few versions before I even noticed that WordPress had added that as a default option, so I’m behind on getting that done.
