    Hi all,

I’m just following this tutorial here https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/#manage-gallery-styles-individually to experiment with the new image functionalities in the latest version of WP, but there are elements missing in the Settings-Media section where you can control galleries.

Obviously there are also features missing when I ‘Create Gallery’ and then edit individual images such as the ‘Type- ‘ box.

I’ve updated to the latest version, logged out and logged in again, refreshed etc.

Any idea why this is happening?

  • Is this a wordpress.com site or a self-hosted WordPress install? If it is the latter, why are you trying to follow documentation meant for wordpress.com sites?

Yes, it is a self-installed site.

And the answer is clearly because I didn’t realise that was not what I was meant to do!
No worries if you can’t help, hopefully a tweet out to the community will help me get some answers.

There are features available on wordpress.com sites that are simply not part of a standard WordPress site. For example, wordpress.com sites already have the Jetpack plugin installed whilst self-hosted sites do not. Have you tried installing Jetpack?

I had, but on checking can see that some of the image related features weren’t selected.

Thanks, that seems to have fixed it.
