Existing translation do not show

What do you have WPLANG set to in your wp-config.php file? For French I believe the proper value for WPLAND is fr_FR

My WPLANG is of course fr_FR in my wp-config.php. Running on 4 different sites (and configurations: server, PHP version, themes, etc.), Breadcrumb NavvXT is the only plugin with an available translation which won’t show.

I checked again the .po file: actually, the translation is really poor (73/184 strings not translated), but I could improve it with Poedit.

Instead, I have to modify most of the settings (mainly: NavXT “template” settings) on all sites, which is a real loss of time and rather frustrating.

According to the translation project for Breadcrumb NavXT, the French translation has 30 something strings missing, see: https://translate.mtekk.us/projects/breadcrumb-navxt

Testing this on my local test bed, it appears the French translation files that were shipped in the last two releases were both incomplete (not meeting the 90% threshold I require for distribution), and the .mo file appears to be corrupt. In the mean time try grabbing the latest .mo/.po from the translation project linked above.

BTW, if you are using the same settings for Breadcrumb NavXT across multiple sites (or settings that are very similar), checkout the settings importer/exporter (help tab > Import / Export / Reset).

I exported the .mo/.po files from the translation project (and renamed them: breadcrumb-navxt-fr_FR.mo/.po instead of breadcrumb-navxt-fr.mo/.po): it works fine.

I draw your attention to the facts that:

• among the translated strings (i.e. 149/184 – 81%), a LOT of crucial / basic ones are not correctly translated and/or are missing in the .pot (e.g. strings including “post” or “gallery”);
• among the not translated strings (i.e. 35/184 – 19%), some should be translated in order to have standard French “frontend – template” settings before further user settings / customizations (e.g. "<a title="Go to the %title% category archives." href="%link%">%htitle%</a>").

I of course could help you improving this translation & meet the threshold: quite simple (except for the missing strings in .pot of course), just tell me how to proceed.

Yeah, unfortunately, I don’t speak French so I can’t validate the translations and have to trust those who have provided translations in the past. I have the same problem, Breadcrumb NavXT don′t show existing translalation (Czech) in administration.

I use WP 3.6 in czech version, 3.8 in english but with the WPLANG
define(‘WPLANG’, ‘cs_CZ’); but it doesn′t work.
I use theme Twenty Twelve, I call breadcrumb function manualy in template, for example in single.php

Where are you settings the WPLANG define? I just tried this on my testbed and the translation loads just fine (minus one translation error that will need to be corrected).

How low in the wp-config.php file was it? It needs to be placed before the require_once(ABSPATH.'wp-settings.php');. Also, are any other translations loading for you (e.g. is the rest of the admin area translated)? Have you checked to ensure the breadcrumb-navxt-cs_CZ.mo file exists in the languages directory in the Breadcrumb NavXT install?
