• Yesterday I started from scratch with my wordpress site.

Today I have started to alter the theme and have run into problems.

    1. When I try to put in my text title and site description under the artificer theme settings my site jumps to the wordpress admin login screen but then will not accept my name and password. If i try to change my password it will not recognise my email.

    2. I have put in the name and tagline under customise my site but its showing up in the wrong place. Its not replacing the artificer title.

    3. when i visit the site there is not a bar along the top like there should be allowing me to return to the admin screen I have to use the back key.

Something is obviously not right and I’m afraid to spend hours on the site for it all to go wrong again.

    It can be found at

    Thanks

  • Can you replicate the problems using the default Twenty Twelve theme with all plugins deactivated?

If this is theme-related, then I’m sorry but as you are using a non-WPORG theme, you need to seek support from the theme’s developers – paid or otherwise. We only support themes downloaded from www.ads-software.com here.
    Try https://www.woothemes.com/support/

I am wondering if I have not deleted everything properly and perhaps there is something affecting things as I did not have these problems the first time I set up the site so I don’t think its the theme.
Right now the site looks different in chrome and internet explorer and also the bar over the top doesn’t show in either.
I am going to restart my pc and clear all the internet history and see if this makes any difference.
    I am getting really frustrated.

Whatever the problem, it’s a good idea to think about creating a Child Theme to start from. This way, your changes don’t affect the original theme files, and your edits aren’t lost when you have to update the original. Much safer!
