• I am creating a localhost from an existing live site:

After successfully importing DB from existing siteI went to ‘Privileges’ in the correct DB (new one created) to create a NEW USER.

I copied the EXACT Password and the host was set to localhost and for the Username, I changed it to something new.

I then went to wp-options – site url – edit – and changed the site url to https://localhost/aafx
(“aafx” is where my wordpress site is located)

when viewing localhost/aafx I STILL get a message of Error establishing a database connection. What am I missing here?

  • Just use the default WAMP database user credentials:

    User name: root

    Password: <empty> … don’t put ANYTHING here
