• Hi,

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post but Im still learning the lay of the land here.

I have an issue where all of a sudden my background in the dashboard is partially black. The font has gone all blurry and thick. Writing posts is a mission due to writing grey on black effectivly.

I have tried clearing the cache and rebooting both the browser and the pc. I have also tried re downloading the latest update of wordpress and the theme.

The theme I am using at the moment is Gamespress and I havent done any plugin or theme updates for a while and they are all upto date. No new plugins have been installed either. I basically wrote a post and published it then a few hours later went back to do another one and this is where I am.

Has anyone got a clue whats going on? Any possible solutions?

    Thank you as always

    Jim

  • Have you tried deactivating ALL plugins and switching to the twentytwelve theme to start troubleshooting this?

Also try clearing your browser cache or try another browser.

Ive done this and I cant activate a single plugin. Or deactivate a single plugin truth be told. Trying to activate/deactivate a single plugin results in either a fatal error or a blank white screen.

That said if I activate/deactivate all plugins I still get a blank screen, Only when I reload the page and enter the plugins section again does it register.

Ive had enough of this, There is like 0 support anywhere. Can anyone help please

thanks but im not in the position to pay someone to sort out what could be a simple thing. Ive been burnt in the past. Im going to have to look into going elsewhere for my website. Thanks for your help though I can see this is the end for wordpress at the moment,

Well despite my anger with the situation, I have continued to try and fix it. I have now sorted the black background and fuzzy text. I had to disable plugins via FTP.

The problem remains that I cannot still activate/deactivate plugins one by one on the dashboard and that any attempt to download WP 3.6 results in a php error. A different php error now happens when I try to change the theme options on my Gamespress theme.

Could php errors be my end or could it be a issue with 123 reg? the search continues

It’s unlikely to be an issue with your host.
Try to remove all plugins by renaming the plugins directory via FTP.
Add them in one by one to work out where the problem is.
I’d suggest doing the same with your theme.

Sometimes themes and plugins aren’t maintained and cause future compatibility issues, which is what you’re experiencing right now. probably.

If you’re still having issues, please list the plugins you’re using.

any attempt to download WP 3.6 results in a php error

You might check with your server to be sure its version is correct. I had a small error suddenly pop up several weeks ago and a simple upgrade at the server fixed it. Also, and with the plugins folder temporarily renamed, you might try a manual upgrade:

well today I tried oing to the default them twentytwelve, disabling all plugins and still nothing. In a new development, not only can I not upgrade to 3.6 but now I cannot add new posts or save drafts. Any attempt is met with yet another php error. With so many .php errors and on so many different lines is it not possible to maybe reinstall everything again?

My fear on that of course is that I lose all my posts and settings for my plugins which in theory could be at fault so a new install is useless. Man this is stressful.

Hey,Retro… i use the gamepress theme and I have the exact same problems… it’s driving me nuts! I don’t see any help on the horizon… kindly keep me posted if you discover something new. The funny thing is, two days ago, i went to my dashboad and it was normal… only to return a few hours later and the same old story.

Can you post a screenshot rkallon and RetroGam3r?
It sounds like there’s a <div> somewhere that hasn’t been closed properly. Most likely due to a compatibility issue with a plugin.

RetroGam3r – install MySQL Workbench on your computer and follow instructions to make a manual backup of your entire database – this may be useful for future restores. Your web host may also offer a ‘click once’ database export for download as a slightly more user-friendly alternative.

So… i guess the problem is with the gamepress theme… I activated the twenty thirteen theme and my dashboard went back to normal. My problem is, i don’t want to change from gamepress… SMH.

Go to your dashboard, then save the page as a htm file, then upload it. I’ll take a look for you and point you in the right direction.

You may be best posting your issue in here from how onwards though, so the theme developer is made aware https://www.ads-software.com/support/theme/gamepress

hmmm, how can I get a screetshot into here…

You could put it on a free image hosting service then provide a link? It would be better if could see the source though, as that’s where the error’s hiding.

    file:///C:/Users/Roland/Desktop/DB.MHT
Hey Aaron, tried accessing the link and it only worked in IE…
