today I tried over 6 hours to open my word press site hosted on BLUEHOST but it seems their servers are down … I read here the other day that their servers keep being down more often … I tried to file a bluehost support ticket and got a Server Error.. no live chat since 6 hours …. they answer my email after 6 hours … they said their server have an issue despite that I have a have a dedicated IP and paid superscription for tree years … my site is still in Beta and have not yet start its full function and I have fear the bluehost will heart my business if they keep goes down every now and then

  • It’s because of DDOS attacks – evidently happening to quite a few hosts today…

I don’t think it’s a DDoS since they started with this:

We’ve identified a problem with two core switches in our data center, and are working with our vendor to address the issue.

I think its unlikely they are going to admit the were under DDOS attacks .. its bad for their reputation

Agreed, and those switches were not mentioned until quite a while after the inital reports had begun.

I have fear the bluehost will heart my business if they keep goes down every now and then

I also have a dedicated IP, but we are each still on shared servers. Possibly any host offering service for the prices we pay will occasionally have a problem of one kind or another, but today I watched the comments of many others who understand this was an extremely unusual incident experienced by all of us as well as by an otherwide reliable host…and whoever was doing the Tweets with over 100 people watching only took a 27-minute break for lunch!

Speaking for webhosts, we DO admit when it’s a DDoS, because it’s actually something we share with other hosts. When the WP attack was ongoing, we all shared info. Yeah, we’re weird.

    Official answer:

The problem occurred during routine server maintenance when a hardware failure quickly cascaded throughout the network.

    Which sucks amazingly ??
