Set Featured Image/Media Upload Crashing Site

  • Hey,
    So I have had some hiccups with the media Uploader here and there, but now anytime I have been trying to make a new post or add a featured image for a post the site is crashing and giving me could not connect sign.
    I have reuploaded WordPress to my site manually, have contacted my host which is apparently good, and this was all an issue before 3.6.
    Any ideas?

  • What’s your website URL? Have you tried disabling all plugins? Have you tried uploading small images as well?

    I haven’t tried deactivating all plugins, can I deactivate without losing setting once I bring back on?

    I have an image cruncher that has seemed to not cause issues. Max 587 pixel images.

    It might not even just be the Featured Image. Me trying to do anything in admin is causing the site to crash on me. Sometimes the changes are saved but the site goes down for a period of time before it comes up again.

    That sounds like something your hosting provider should look into. Have you contacted them? It looks like it’s GoDaddy.

    Hosting side said they thought they were ok.
    The fact that I am trying to do stuff in admin and the site is going down makes me think it is WP though? right?

    I contacted them again and they said they still think things look good. The recommend deactivating plugin’s, i guess I will do this if the site can stay live for more than min.

    So all of my plug-ins are deactivated. Something is certainly broken in the media uploader/featured image pop-up? Can I switch that back to the non-flash version?
