• Hi Everyone,

I recently upgraded to WordPress 3.6 and my visual editor was immediately broken. All of the toolbar icons are gone and I can’t click into the writing space to add text. As well, the HTML editor is broken.

However, when I disable visual editing through the User settings, the HTML editor works. Could anyone help me resolve this issue?

    Thanks so much!

Yes I have tried everything. It still doesn’t work…

Is it possible to downgrade WordPress? Or are there other ways to fix this issue?

    Thanks!

Is it possible to downgrade WordPress?

Downgrading is NOT a real and recommended solution as it can cause more problems than solving – apart from security issues, incompatibility with plugins, themes, and even server settings. So, try to solve the issue through the usual troubleshooting steps.

Try first deactivating all plugins and activating Twenty Twelve theme and see if your editor works.

I have tried disabling all plugins, and then turning on Twenty Twelve theme… It still doesn’t work.

Through your dashboard, though it says you are running the latest version of WordPress, update WordPress again.

    Hi,

I just tried that like you suggested. It still fails to work. Are there any other users experiencing this same issue?

    Thanks!

Same problem here,I can not add any media to post and pages and that happen with all 3 of my sites. This happen after the latest update.

    Regards,

    Sue

If you need more help, please start your own thread

The visual editor hasn’t changed much between 3.5 and 3.6. Most problems with it are usually solved by clearing your browser cache.

However as it is JS based, other JS errors on the page would affect/break it. If clearing the cache didn’t help, you can look for JS errors by opening the browser’s error console (usually by pressing F12). Then reload the page to be able to see the errors.

In most cases the first error you see there is the problem and you can see in which file it happens. That would give clues on whether a plugin is to blame or perhaps some files in WordPress weren’t upgraded properly. If you can’t figure out what is causing the error, pasting it in a new thread here gives much better chance to identify and solve the problem you’re having.

i’m having similar problem. No formating menu bar, Add Media is not responding to click. I can see what i type in the page section. No HTML tab. Screen option is not responding to click. I have deactivated all plugins and used twentytwelve yet can’t get it fixed.

I think that some files are not updated properly. Can you download the latest version from www.ads-software.com and upload the wp-admin and wp-includes folder via FTP or SFTP? May be your problem will solve.

have the exact same problem, and no the trouble shooting steps do not work.

Everyone except the OP – please to do not post in other people’s threads – it makes it harder for people here to help you. If you already have your own thread – stick with that.

I had the same problems (No Visual Editor, No drop down menus, add media not working) and it seems the Askimet plugin was the problem for me.

I deactivated it, cleared the cache and now everything is working again.
