• I’ve had WP running without major problems for 2 years but today I found I could no longer access my blog to edit it or write new material. My username and password are apparently no longer recognized.

I thought it could be a password problem but requests to send a new password have produced nothing.

I have not made any changes as far as I know. Should I reinstall WP from scratch?

  • Same thing has happened to me as well ??

Did you contact your host? Maybe they did some kind of upgrade on the server?
Do you have access to your DB via phpMyadmin? You could try to reset the pw by following this tutorial:
    https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/phpmyadmin/

But first of all, I’d ask the host what’s going on…

For me, We upgraded mysql to 5.0 but that shouldnt have any effect should it?

What version of WP were you running, tjk? With older versions, it may definitely have affected things.

    HaNDY it says ?version=2.0

Hmm, I can’t recall if 2.0 handled mysql 5 or not. It was right around that time frame that I ran into issues.

I realize it is a big of a longshot, but you might upgrade to 2.0.3 (save your wp-config.php!) and see if that resolves things. If nothing else, you’ll get rid of some security issues by doing the upgrade.

okie dokie thank you i just downloaded Ill try and update ya thanks a million

Thanks for replies. I’ve now discovered that all my archives and in fact everything apart from the first page of my blog has disappeared, so evidently it is indeed my ISP which is at the root of this. I will contact them today. If they have lost everything I will change my ISP.
