Unable to save text permanently into Homepage only for Website,not Blogging site

Brand new to WordPress and, Version 3.5.2. Creating a website only, Not a blogging site. Only one problem, just need to know: What is the correct procedure, step-by-step please, for entering text and saving text into Homepage only? No problem with any other page, but the Homepage. Using TwentyTen theme. Was told had to go into Post section of WP dashboard? Just need the correct information, steps to follow? That’s it. Thanks! ??
