• Hello at Photocrati
Three large live sites using the most recent NextGen gallery – the biggest is here [www.englishchess.org.uk]. The two plugins seemed perfectly happy until the NGG update before last. Afterwards, and despite the most recent NGG update, I can no longer edit the tables in my posts and pages (you’ll see it’s a chess website, so lots of tabular data) without the mouse selecting the whole table (without me clicking), and no commands accessible after that. In addition selecting text no longer offers the option to create a link. Deactivate NGG – all is well. I have lived and died by NGG since 2010, and I am very reluctant to consider stopping using it [not sure I can with hundreds of galleries over four sites!]
If purchasing the PRO edition will help, please let me know – otherwise any help you can offer would be a real life saver!
    Thanks

  • For edit tables: Click <text>-editor and then back <visual>-editor or try the -Trick after you are clicking on the table. Both should work…

@w.bear: Thanks very much for jumping in to help. Much appreciated.

@giddykipper: Can you see if either of those suggested solutions resolve things for you. If not, you can send a bug report with login credentials and we’ll take a look:

    https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/

From your report it’s not immediately clear to me what you’re seeing or where the conflict is, and particularly if there is some thing special going on because of a conflict with TinyMCE Advanced.

Unfortunately it does not work properly. Although the TinyMCE-Advanced-tables-icons appear with this trick, but the editing of the table is still almost impossible. You have to disable NextGEN or TinyMCEAdvanced to edit a table properly. ??

Hello gents. thanks for your replies. Two things may help –

1 We have another National Schools Chess site which uses TinyMCE Advanced and NGG from before it said ‘Photocrati’ – Version 1.9.13 – and the conflict does not exist, all is well.

2 I have disabled TMCEA on the two biggest sites and installed CKEditor, and the conflict is resolved this way as well.

Keep in touch – I’m sure we can thrash this out?

PS Can you clarify what you mean here –
‘If not, you can send a bug report with login credentials and we’ll take a look’

i have wp 3.6 and with the last version of nextgen gallery not only the TinyMCE editor but all the admin area is quite messy. help needed ??

Same issue here, visual editing doesn’t work. Widget areas are invisible/not editable.

Let’s hope you guys have a quick fix up in your sleeve ??

OK. When I create or edit a table in TinyMCE Advanced, let’s say the first cell has the words ‘Sunny Day’ in it, and I want to make the words bold. I select the words, release the mouse button and move my mouse towards the ‘B’ icon to embolden the text, but as I do my mouse selects all the table cells that it moves across, and the only way to stop this is to click outside the table. Start again. Same result.

OK (II) When I select some text anywhere in the post or page, the option to make the text into a link is not available, although if I make it bold, then not bold, the link icons come to life, but not otherwise.

Disable NGG – the problems disappear
Disable TinyMCE Advanced and use CKEditor – the problems disappear

Ideally – I’d like to return to the previous situation (NGG 1.9.13) where there was never any conflict. I hope this clarifies the matter – keep in touch …

i downgrade the installation and everything is ok. thx for the answers.

That’s what I’d like to do, Szalmo. Is it easily done – moving from the newest release back to NGG 1.9.13? I have many, many galleries over several sites, so I don’t want to lose them.
    Andrew

very easy, i took the files of the plugin from a site i didn’t upgrade and uploaded on the upgraded one. everything is all right, now ??

Thanks. I found them here as well – handy if it happens again ??

The error has been corrected. The table handling in TinyMCE Advanced works for me fine now. You can replace this file:

    https://bitbucket.org/photocrati/nextgen-gallery/src/bba2ed983a71a82fc14b28fb115dd7432896d2c7/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/attach_to_post/static/ngg_attach_to_post_tinymce_plugin.js?at=default

or wait for the next version – maybe 2.09 – release maybe today.

Well thank you, w.bear. I will watch for the next upgrade.

@giddykipper: we’ve released an informal update that should address this. You can download and update manually here:

    https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/nextgen-gallery-latest-beta

Or you can wait for an official release that you can update from the dashboard probably around next Monday.

    Thanks.

This is a never ending problem I think.
    I have wp-3.8.1 installed and nextgen-gallery-2.0.40 installed.
When I activate this plugin the visual editor don’t work any more.

I know I had the same problem with another plugin, can’t remember what it was though.
It looks like tinymce is very fragile but there must be a solution for this or…?

I have looked around a lot and found that many have the same problem but I never seen a working solution yet.
    Hope that there is.

    Thanks.
