Database Is Out Of Date
-
I’ve been having nothing but grief.
I decided to switch webspace providers. Fine. No big deal, right? So, I failed to notice that my old provider uses mySQL vers 5 and the new one uses mySQL vers 4. I was a little irked about this and, being new to this whole thing, wasn’t sure exactly what to do about this. So I fiddled around in phpmyAdmin and quickly found that I can download my old database as a version 4 sql file. So I did that.
Then, since the sql file was about 4 MB, I had to get my new webprovider to import it. Which they did… no problems.
I install the newest 2.0.3 WordPress version and I get this. It looks like crap, but the basic information is there. Just no css or theme there. Ok, I’ve seen it before, no biggie.
Then I try to get into my dashboard at wp-admin/index.php and get “Your database is out-of-date. Please upgrade.” with a link to wp-admin/upgrade.php. Fine. I click the upgrade link and get a 404 error. I check the webspace… upgrade.php is exactly where it should be. So, I can’t log into my dashboard or get anywhere near my blog.
I don’t want to have to completely kill all of my back catalogue of posts and start over. How can I get this resolved? Should I do a clean install of wordpress? Is there something actually wrong with my database? That’s the deal?
