Update to WordPress 3.6 – Tag and Category receiving 404 Error

  • I’ve been digging and digging for a resolution with no luck.

    I recently updated to 3.6 and now all my Tags receive a 404 error.

    I’ve stripped down the site to original theme. Deactivated all plugins rebuilt my htazccess. Nothing is working.

    Help appreciated.

  • Are the tags standard WordPress tags and not a custom taxonomy managed by a plugin or theme?

    Double check the WordPress settings page and make sure the site and URL setups are correct.

    And try deleting the existing .htaccess file on the server and recreating it by going to your Permalink options and selecting a choice and saving it.

    If those don’t work, check with your hosting – there may be server configuration issues that we can’t troubleshoot from here.

    All plugins are off.

    URLS have not changed – Only updated to 3.6 from 3.5

    I deleted the htaccess and let wordpress create a new one with all plugins off and default theme.

    This happened soon as I updated to 3.6 working perfectly up to that exact moment.

    Edited original post – Categories are affected as well.

    I installed 3.5.1 back on my site.

    Still receiving the same issue.

    So this definitly the fault of 3.6

    I threw on a backup copy of my db and installed the 3.6 update and this happens every time.

    Leaving this as unresolved. til this is fixed I will not be updating. Big 3.6 blunder here.

    yep i have same issue, my categories show this error when i want to view particular categories . no problems before 3.6 update
