New Install and can’t login

  • I have 2.0.2 install of WordPress on my site. I have not been able to login successfully. I keep getting a redirect_to the same login form again. I tried the lost password method and it still didn’t accept the newly generated password. I also did the phpMyAdmin trick of doing an MD5 on a new password. In this case I got an “Incorrect password” error upon entry into wp-login. I have tried it in IE and Firefox. I have cleared cookies and rechecked that cookies were enabled on both and tried the login all over again.

    I haven’t gotten anywheres and I am beyond frustrated at this point. HELP?

  • without knowing more, starting fresh is the only advice I can offer.

    if you have access to phpmyadmin, I would zonk out the mysql tables, remove all the wordpress files, and reinstall. If you have data there you want, back it up, that includes files and the mysql data.

    when doing a reinstall, get a brand new download of wordpress first.

    I’m having the exact same problem. Exactly. I’ve uploaded by sql database and had started with a brand spankin’ new version of WordPress. Now I’ve got to do the whole thing over again?

    Third re-install is a charm I guess – don’t ask me what changed…wow that was a drag!

    it’s quite possible that the download was corrupt. ya never know.

    I’ve been having exactly the same problem for about a week now. I had WP working for about 18 months previously without major problems.Then suddently I could no longer log in.

    I’ve tried all the above without any improvement, including downloading WP again and remaking the password directly with phpmyadmin. Eventually in despair I deleted the whole database; oddly, the old material was still there! But still no login.

    I’m feeling pretty fed up with WP at the moment.

    This is seems a like a common enough problem for some server set ups that it should be included in the install section.

    I also get the wrong address for the blog due to some redirection issues, i.e., webprod.server.com/~blogsite

    Very frustrating.

    I’m having the same problem. Glad to see it’s not just me. The only way I can “log in” is to connect to wordpress through the link in the email they sent me. Then I’m automatically logged in. If I go to www.ads-software.com myself and try to login, it doesn’t recognize my password and/or name.
