• Okay, y’all, I’m not going to pretend that this question will be asked in the best and techiest way. ?? But I have a situation where I’ll be running a fic exchange, which we’re trying to revive after years when it wasn’t done. The people in the (large) community seem to want a platform that just allows general posting and commenting (not tied to a post that the admin/s made first.) It used to be done on LJ (NOT going back to that.) So a number of people are suggesting dreamwidth, but I just don’t see enough functionality there… so many features they do not have that WP does. So I need some HELP!! It just seems like there MUST be a WP plugin that allows this kind of thing. (again, community posting without its being dependent on a post the admin made first, any user can search for posts made by any other, etc.)

There are so many smart people here!~ I just KNOW that someone can help. ?? Please help me to keep this on WP!!

  • From what I can see WP does all that you want.

Generally you won’t want anyone to be able to post, so you just set each member of the community up as a user with author privileges, then they can create posts, search for other posts, and then comments can be made by anyone.
