Adding content below Featured Pages Circles

First, Nicholas, thank you !! The theme is wonderful and nicely done. I’m grateful for all the work you have put into it. Merci mille fois.

I have mocked-up two images: current & desired.

The current image shows our site (https://musicinsideout.org/louis) as it is currently arranged. The blog post that appears on the front page (“The Honeymooners” in the image) is, to our eye, too wide to read easily. This is especially the case if there isn’t a photo attached to the excerpt. (In the case of the image I’ve included, there is a photo, but you can see how wide that column of text would be otherwise.)

For that reason (the readability of that text column) and for other reasons (the desire to add additional content to the front page, but not as a widget in the footer), we would like to shrink the existing column to 2/3 the width of the page, and add a column to the right that is 1/3 the width of the page.

The content of this additional column could come from a post with a new category.

In addition, we would like to remove the Post Navigation buttons from the post appearing on the front page.

We are using a child theme to make changes to the design.

Can anyone offer me advice on how to make this change and addition?
