• I received a note to update to version 3.6 as it became available. The update stalled, I waited for several hours for it to complete, but it just sat there spinning its wheels. Now when I try yo log in to my website, I get an error message “Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_taxonomies_for_attachments() in /srv/disk7/1257553/www/fallbrookseniorsoftball.org/wp-admin/menu.php on line 67”

How do I get my site back and running after a failed update like this?
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Here is what I would do:

Go to /wp-content/ via FTP and rename plugins to something like plugouts to de-activate all plugins, then see whether you can again log in. If you can, next activate Twenty Twelve and then go back and rename your plugins folder to plugins, then go back to your Dashboard and again try the upgrade (or possibly a re-installation if the upgrade does not work). If all of that fails, I would next try a manual upgrade:

Complete failure to re-load this way… I ended up just starting over from scratch. My problem now is that I’m using a newer template, Celestial lite, and it won’t seem to accept me trying to put a link of a page to a document. I use to button to add media as I did before, but no results. Any idea how to solve this problem?
    Thanks,

After uploading document to media library,

check attachment display setting in media library (right bottom side).

it should be set to media file and then click on insert.

It will create link to you document/file.

Switch to default theme and see if you have same problem if not then is your theme that needs update.

Thanks, I tried that, and it is the same for any theme I try. An odd thing, when I click on the media button, and then go to the library, I see the documents there I was trying to link to, I just can’t get them so show up on the page where I’m trying to set the link. Does this help you solve my problem? Thanks for the help so far, I appreciate it.

Did you follow the steps I have mentioned earlier?

What type of document are adding in media library.

a pdf file. I didn’t think it would be that big of a problem.
    Thanks
