dividing header area into two unequal areas with links

hi

the site at the moment: https://www.fannymagnate.com/blog

i want to divide my header area into two so that the logo on the left links back to the main blog page (not essential) and the rss symbol on the right links to the feed for my entries (more important)

i have attached two pictures to illustrate what i mean.

i am guessing i need to make the header smaller and create a new div next to it, into which i would put the rss symbol, but i don’t know how to this. i also have no idea how to make the background image link to something
