• Our university just got a CMS. How do I integrate WP with their CMS? There is a template or theme built into it so we are limited to a small content area.

  • I am afraid this is not enough info to get some useful advice.

WordPress IS a CMS. Attempting to mesh the two (as they’re most likely using different databases) would probably be a pretty major piece of work. However, as Moshu indicated, we need a heck of a lot more information to even make an educated guess at this one.

aliallen: I’m not sure you would be able to put wordpress up on your university’s webspace. You would need access to a mysql database, which (I’m guessing here) you probably won’t have if they’ve only given you a small content area.

If you are running an open-source CMS such as Joomla or Drupal, you can Google something like “wordpress joomla bridge” or something of the sort. I am pretty sure it is available for Joomla. Actually:

So yeah, I don’t know of one for Drupal. Someone might have already made a bridge for it (and cheers to that guy, that’s a lot of work) so you might as well google it.
If you’re using a commercial CMS, chances are pretty low.

maerk: I’m taking a poke at this, I think to set up a CMS you need a MySQL database or some other db (like PgSQL or something)
I think it’s for his university, not for his own home site.

This might be wrong. Correct if so.

Oh right, I thought maybe aliallen was a student with some webspace on the university host.

So yeah, it should be possible ??
