Mobile look for 2012 Child Theme

    I am new to WordPress and design, I apologize and please redirect me if this is not the right place.

    I understand that I can create a separate mobile theme and install the plugin so that the device would choose. But here’s my question:

    I’ve mainly been working creating child themes off of twenty twelve, basically just creating a new header, footer and homepage along with css. So why is the mobile version not coming out as the full scale version. Of course I don’t want that in the long run, but I don’t understand why I”m not just getting the scaled down version of the whole site like I did when I would design things in iWeb and Dreamweaver like when I was a young design lad. ??

  • The 2012 theme was designed – from the ground up – to re-scale its layout for mobile screens. This is known as responsive design and is pretty hot these days. If that’s not what you want, then try looking for a fixed width theme instead.

    @esmi I understand that and I understand responsive design, I also know that I’d have to use @media to change image sizes in my header for example, so why if I click on a link does the pages that are using twentytwelve’s css not respond to the device.

    Can you provide a link to your site for further investigation?

    What do you mean by “not respond to the device”?
