• Hi,

I am wondering how I get rid of the page title appearing above the featured slider on my new website detoxwithme.ie

If you take a look a the “home” page you’ll see “HOME” is above the feature slider. I’d like the top of the feature slider to align with the top of the left hand menu so therefore get rid of “HOME” or other suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

  • That’s not front page slider. You have to make that page become front page by assigning it with Front Page Template. And create some posts marked with featured, and also with a big(750×380) featured image (post thumbnail) in each of that posts.

When I do that it makes the Home page a posts page. I loose the info on “home” page, which I want to be a static page. is it possible to have a feature slide with static page? If not can I make the first post “sticky” so it always remains at the top of the page? If so where do I enable a “sticky” post. Have been playing around and haven’t found “sticky’ post option anywhere.

    Thanks in advance.

When I do that it changes my Home page to my first blog post page. I actually want my “home’ page to be static with feature slider. Is that possible or does my ‘home’ page have to be a post page to use the feature slider option? If the front page has to be a posts page for feature slider can I make the first post “sticky” so always remains at top of page?
    Thanks

To use theme’s featured slider, it got to be that template. There is a way to make some edits to get theme’s slider to work on custom page but it takes some works.

It’s better to use regular page assigned with Full Width Page Template and set as front page display, and then use a slider plugin.

    Like this one for example

You can hide this page’s title using CSS and you can also query additional contents like lists of post using a plugin like display post ( just for example, there are more of plugins like this )

o.k. Thanks. I’ll see how I get on. The simpler the better. Very amateur yet determined!
If I use that template for feature slider, can i make the first post sticky? or do I need a plug in for that?
One other thing, ARe plugin’s pretty straightforward to use?
    Thank you kindly.

All the loops in front page template (Slider area, Recent Articles, More Articles) exclude sticky posts. So for this theme, the sticky posts will work as intended in the blog home page (main blog post listing page) only.

Plugins that offers shortcode requires no template editing, shortcode can be used right in the content area. The only requirement is understanding on what it does and what parameters to put in.

Getting somewhere, except thumbnail gallery missing below the slider as in the demo template. Also the slider isn’t changing photos.!

I have set photos visibility “stick post to front page”
Have set photos as “featured posts”
    And The photos are “featured-thumbnail”

Should I set as “slider-nav-thumbnail” instead?

Actually no need to answer the the last questions. I have decided to work out how to use the plugin to keep the home page static with slider as you mentioned above.

Just one other thing. My website doesn’t appear the same way on i-phone. do I also need a plugin or widget for that?

website doesn’t appear the same way on i-phone.

That’s the correct behavior and it is a good thing, it’s called responsive layout. Here are some great examples https://mediaqueri.es/

Should I set as “slider-nav-thumbnail” instead?

That’s the image setting for selecting image(size) to appear in the post content. The front page of this theme (and also true to many others) doesn’t care for this setting, it automatically pulls images, all we have to do is upload and assign image to be featured image of that post.

    “stick post to front page”

That’s sticky post option, when used will exclude it from front page display of this theme.

In post editing screen, locate post Location metabox, when found you would see 4 checkboxes in it.

    • Featured = Slider
    • Primary = Recent Articles
    • Secondary = More Articles
    • Do not display = This one has no real use, it’s to remind user that this post is still un-decided on front page Location.

For image, just make sure it’s big enough and is assigned as featured.
