Attribute comemnts to a new user

  • HI,

    I can’t find the answer to this anywhere and am not game to find out the hard way…

    If I delete a user, I am given the option of attributing all posts by that user to another user. Does it include their comments or do I lose them?

  • As far as I know you will lose the comments. Perhaps there is an alternative solution… curious to find out as well

    I tried it. It looks like comments remain, and they’re still attributed to the original user.

    The comments table in the database stores the commenter’s name and e-mail address independently, so there is no need for a commenter to be a current user. Indeed, the deleted user’s user ID remains in the comments table, although it no longer has any purpose.

    AT least in the comments area you can manually change names I guess – maybe I should do that first…
