Japanese characters not displaying correctly in table

    Oh my god !! I love your TablePress plugin and if you help me solve this problem I will honestly make a donation (with company money of course!)

    Fresh install of WordPress together with a fresh install of TablePress.
    I imported a CSV of 3000 products (SKU) with product name, grouping, price and stock/inventory. IT WORKS !! However, the product name, which is in Japanese, isn’t displaying correctly in the table.. as you can see below:

    I can type in and display Japanese correctly within the WordPress theme so the problem seems to be the CSV or your plugin. As I mentioned above, if you can help me with this display problem I will donate project budget to you.

    (I can’t display the site to the public due to company policy. This site is restricted to product distributors but I could give you a temporary login if needed)

    Well I seem to have found the solution on my own. However, I still plan to send you a donation when the project has been completed. I will also look at some of your extensions and make a couple of purchases.

    For those with similar CSV character import problems, try the following solution:

    Using Notepad
    1. Click “Start,” enter “notepad” in the Search field, and press “Enter” to launch Notepad.
    2. Click “File” and then click “Open.” Click the drop-down menu beside the “File Name” field, and then choose “All Files.”
    3. Locate the CSV file that you want to convert to UTF-8. Select it and click “Open.” This loads your CSV data onto Notepad.
    4. Open the “File” menu again, and click on “Save As.” Enter your preferred file name. Be sure to include the “.csv” file extension.
    5. Click the drop-down menu beside “Save as File Type,” and choose “All Files.”
    6. Go to “Encoding” and select “UTF-8” from the drop-down menu. Click “Save.”

    thanks for your post and sorry for the trouble!

    Yes, this was most likely related to the character encoding. Nice to hear that you already found the workaround that I would have suggested otherwise ??
    For characters from other languages, the UTF-8 format is necessary. TablePress does have some code in it to make that conversion automatically, but that’s not possible on some servers, so that this manual step that you describe is necessary. So, great to hear that this worked! ??
