Saving code language with author permissions

I’m using this plugin on a blog with many users- I have several set up as ‘author’ so they can’t publish their own posts, but at that level, every time these users save a post, the
lang="foo"attribute is stripped out of the code. If I upgrade them to editor, they can save just fine.I’d prefer for users to have the minimal permissions possible, so anyone have any ideas?
