    Camu,

I just updated to version 3.3.3 and noticed that when I select the Right Now tab from the SlimStat drop down menu on the admin bar I am now getting a 500 internal server error page. Every other tab seems to work just fine except this one and the SlimStat button itself on the admin bar. Would you have any idea as to how I might can fix this? My site is https://www.grocerycomping.com

I very much appreciate all of your time and help,
    James.

Do you have access to your server logs?

    Camu,

I believe I have access to them. Not 100% sure though. Could you tell me exactly what to look for and I’ll see what I can find in my FTP.

    Thanks for the quick reply,
    James.

    James,

    Camu,

I’m in my FTP right now and the only error log file I have is one called .errordocs. Somehow I don’t think that is the file I was needing to look at. I just enabled my error logs but I think it will take 24 hours to start viewing them. I am duplicating the error right now so it can get logged. I guess I will return tomorrow with whatever I can find.

    Thanks for the help,
    James.

    Camu,

I got the error logs running now and this what just showed up in there after trying to access the Right Now tab.

    [Tue Sep 10 10:23:04 2013] [10004203] [fcgid:warn] [client 216.135.103.141:53236] mod_fcgid: read data timeout in 120 seconds, referer https://www.grocerycomping.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=stats
    [Tue Sep 10 10:23:04 2013] [10004203] [fcgid:warn] (110)Connection timed out: [client 216.135.103.141:53236] mod_fcgid: ap_pass_brigade failed in handle_request_ipc function, referer https://www.grocerycomping.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=stats

All of the above is way over my head, so any help at all would be greatly appreciated!!!
    James.

    Hi James,

Wondering if you could share what theme you’re using?

    all best,

James, do you have any other stat plugins running on your site?

    Thread Starter STONE5572

    (@stone5572)

I am using the Responsive theme (free version) and the only other stat plugin that’s running is the Jetpack stats and that’s it.

    Plugin Author Jason Crouse

    (@coolmann)

That explains it: according to the error log you pasted, the error is related to Jetpack (page=stats), not to SlimStat ?? It looks like Jetpack makes your website timeout (it takes more than 120 seconds to generate the page), so you may want to look into that.

    Thread Starter STONE5572

    (@stone5572)

The Jetpack stats are working just fine. This error only happens when I click the Slim stat button on my admin bar of my dashboard or if I click the Right Now tab located in it’s drop-down menu.

Could it be, that is not the correct error log that I pasted? Most all of this is way above my head so any type of direction would is most appreciated.

    Thanks for the help,
    James.

It looks like Jetpack is still executing its code even when you’re displaying the Right Now page, so the time it takes jetpack to do its stuff PLUS the time required by SlimStat to retrieve the data for the Right Now panel exceeds 120 seconds.

    Camu,

So this is a Jetpack error and not a SlimStat error? Even though it didn’t start till after I updated to 3.3.3 from the previous version?

Please remember I am learning as we go, so it’s a little tough for me to keep up sometimes.

    Thanks for the help,
    James.

    Camu, James,

I’m not using Jetpack. Having similar trouble as James describes.

I am, however, using a (only slightly, css) modified child-theme of the same theme James is using.

I am using SlimStat 3.3.3 on another WP instance using TwentyThirteen without the troubles I’m seeing on the site(s) with Responsive.

Edit: I also wanted to add that I was having problems, simultaneously, with another plugin updated 2x today that is conflicting with something, causes world-ending errors, etc. Boy did that make conflict finding fun.

    HTH,
    Greg

    James,

the query to retrieve the Right Now data was changed in 3.3.3, and it may be a little more db intensive than before, since it now includes outbound links. How many records do you have in you SlimStat table?

    Greg,

so your errorlog is the same as James’?

    Thread Starter STONE5572

    (@stone5572)

    Camu,

I know you’re going to hate me over this one, but where exactly is the ‘SlimStat table’ so I can look?

I apologize for being more of a newbie to most of this.

Also, I too am running the a child theme on my Responsive theme just as Izzaboo. I don’t know if that would mean anything different, and the css in mine is very, very minimal (only color-type css changes).

    Thanks,
    James.
