How to get widgets in a dropdown WP Menu?

  • I have some widget areas in a custom theme that I would like displayed in a dropdown in my WP menu. I’d prefer not to use a plugin to accomplish this, but am not sure how to get those widgets into the dropdown. Perhaps I’m not searching the right terms, but Google is not really bringing up the right answers for what I need to accomplish.
