using wordpress with ftp

  • I’ve just ried to upload content with ftp but it doesn’t show up in the media folder. What am I doing wrong?

  • If you mean that it doesn’t show up in the media section of your admin area, then yes, that’s the correct behaviour.

    WordPress doesn’t know about any files that are uploaded through any other systen then it’s own internal uploader, so by using FTP, the files are not going to be seen by WordPress as media.

    I have seen a few plugins around that can scan directories and import the files into the media library so it’d be worth having a look around for something like that.

    I don’t have any suggestions as I haven’t had to use any of those pluigns before, but there’s a few threads on here about the same problem,s o you shoudl be able ot track something down with a bit of searching.

    Thanks a whole bunch. Finally got it working after noticing that the server folder and local folders were not the same. I uploaded all the local folders and now am good to go.
