    Some sites upgraded to 3.6.1 flawlessly. However, on two sites, so far, updating to 3.6.1 results in this:

    Warning: copy(/home/park/public_html/wp/wp-admin/includes/update-core.php) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/park/public_html/wp/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-direct.php on line 200

    What’s the easiest fix for this?

    Thanks,
    Keith

    – Sounds like permission issue.
    – Have you contacted your hosting provider?

    Thanks, Tara,
    Permission=777
    No. It works fine on some sites on the same server.
    I see no reason to believe it might be the host’s fault. Do you?

    777 is pretty risky from a security standpoint.
    Generally, folder should be 755 and files 644.

    on two sites, so far, updating to 3.6.1 results in this:

    On those site, tru manual update. Read the Manual Update directions first!

    is the problem resolved?

    Honestly, I can’t remember! I believe it is not.

    I got busy with other things and drifted from this issue. One thing on my winter to-do list is to update all WP sites, so I’ll find out.

    Since I don’t know, I’ll mark it Resolved and reopen later if need be.
