HMM. when I take the spaces out of my name (originally; l a u r i e,not laurie ), it all works. It seems like I need to adjust the font so that I can have those spaces. Is there a way to refine the font for the title?

Yes, but you need to be using Custom CSS (via a plugin) or a child theme – do you have that set up?

Shall I use the custom CSS plugin as is, or should I make a child theme first, then start my modifications?

Don’t modify any theme files – as your changes will be lost when WP is updated. If you are only changing CSS, a plugin is easy to install, but if you want to make other changes, you need to set up a child theme – https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Child_Themes

    Will do both. Thanks

If you do the child theme, no reason to add the plugin – but I’d go for the child theme too :).

Oh its me again, back to the website, and same thing happening in chrome. (name cut off and put onnext line. Still using 2012, but have a child theme (finally). I have a difficult time locating which CSS is relevant to the particular problem at hand.
    Thanks
