• Hi all,

I’m struggling to find a plugin that could be used for this (maybe one doesn’t exist).
Basically I want to have a database of images, which can be sorted and viewed by ‘tag’ or ‘category’. I would also like to be able to include some of these images in a gallery in some blog posts.
Also would like the images to include a description, although that is a slightly lower priority.
Does anything that allows all this, exist?

Thank you! any suggestions really greatly appreciated.

  • Hi there, Robmis!

Is this all the site is going to be? If so, rather than using a plugin you could just add a photo to each new post and edit the theme files to output your desired data (Post title as image name, image, content as image description, tags, categories, etc.)

Doing it this way would allow you to utilize the built in sorting, tag, category, and search options of WordPress.

    What do you think?

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
It would be the majority of the site, but I would like to have like articles listing top 10s and show different tags in some of the same galleries.

Well, I think customizing using Posts (or even a Custom Post Type) would be best, but you’d have to be comfortable using PHP and editing the theme.

If you haven’t looked into NextGEN Gallery (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/nextgen-gallery/) it’s pretty great and one of the better/best image plugins for WordPress. Maybe you can play with that and see if it works!

    Good luck!

Thank you. I will give NextGen a try and see what it offers me, if that doesn’t work, I’ll look into Custom Posts.

    Thanks for your suggestions.
