• Good Morning

I’ve installed the new update after waiting in fear that I may have issues as others have but thankfully all went smooth for me! Thank you to everyone at NextGen for working so hard to get issues resolved.

I’ve had the NextGen plugin installed since starting my site (April 2010) and I’m embarrassed to say I really didn’t understand how to use it and I didn’t realize how many features were available. My site developer added the plugin to my site when he was designing it but didn’t explain any of the features. Since watching all the support threads since the major upgrade I’ve started to realize the capabilities and I would like to start using the many features. Is there a guide/how-to available because obviously I’ve not been using the plugin effectively.

One main question I have, can I import images from posts into newly created galleries? Or must I upload the images again and create new alt text for each image

Also, if I removed the current galleries would it set off a ton of 404 pages (crawl issues) or would it merely affect one main url?

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Grace

No, for what I’m aware of, but you can load the image in a Nextgen gallery excluding it from the display in that gallery, and use it as a single pic within a post.

If your remove one or more pages they will be 404s for some time as any other page removed from a public website.
You can exclude them from robots navigation editing a robots.txt file, or .htaccess, but this isn’t a Nextgen matter.

    Good Morning tizz,

Thank you so much for your assistance. If you wouldn’t mind I could use a little more clarification with respect to the 404’s. When I go to my photography page and I click on one of the images in my gallery and I use the slideshow it doesn’t appear that a new page is loaded, it appears to still be the photography page, how would I be setting off 404’s if the individual images don’t appear to load in a new page, the slideshow itself loads a new page but the page merely is a listing of the galleries. I apologize if this is a stupid question my inexperience is probably quite evident.

    Grace
