Jetpack not support https?

I use HTTPS only for wp-admin. The rest of my site is regular http. I get an error installing Jetpack. I use a self signed certificate.

Why does Jetpack not support self signed certificates, especially for those that only use it for wp-admin….??

Error Details: The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site https://www.mysite.com [IXR -32300: transport error: http_request_failed SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate]

Is there a way around this?
