• I have installed the Pro version of the Like-Dislike counter on my website, https://ssnet.org/

It wasn’t nearly as “automatic” as the description makes it sound, but I did get it working and have been using it for some time.

However, by selectively disabling plugins I found that the Like-Dislike counter is the culprit for the following problems on my site:

    1) Specifying length of excerpts on my home page no longer works. Excerpts are all very LONG. This is note a theme problem. (Theme is Weaver II Pro)

    2) The links after the excerpts no longer display but default to […], which is non-linkable.

This is not acceptable for a “Pro” plugin.

Please re-examine your code to see where/how your plugin might be affecting the (1) excerpt length and (2) excerpt links.

    Thank you.

WPyogi, are you saying that the free version works better than the Pro version?

My experience tells me that the free version did not work as well as the Pro version. Thus it is highly likely that the free version has as much of a problem as the Pro version.

Besides, I don’t want others to get suckered into buying the Pro version just for lack of support for the free version, like I did.

I read reviews and support threads to determine whether or not to use or buy a plugin. And that’s why I’m posting here – for the benefit of other users, if nothing else.

Yes, I understand where you are coming from, but it’s the policy of these www.ads-software.com forums that they are only for support and reviews of FREE versions. Your post here appears to be asking for support of the paid version, no?

I guess you’re right, WPyogi. But for my own sake, I wish there were posts like this about any Pro versions (this or another) when the Pro versions are not substantially better than the free versions.

Note that the free version documentation is full of plugs for the Pro version.

H’mm … now I wonder whether going back to the free version might be better. …

I need to point out that the current free version of the plugin is a great improvement over the original. It doesn’t have the same bugs as the Pro version, and I’m hoping that the Pro version will be fixed as well.

However, in the free version, it is possible to vote multiple times from the same browser at the same location, provided one waits a few minutes between votes. (Apparently the fast-clicking bug was fixed by adding a time interval between recording clicks, but what is really needed is a cookie or some way of remembering the IP address.)

The Pro version does not allow multiple voting from the same browser.
